Seattle Art Museum
The Seattle Art Museum is a highlight of Downtown Seattle and features some really beautiful pieces of artwork and exhibitions. Here is admission and hours info, and some of my favorite parts.
Seattle Art Museum
1300 FIRST AVE, SEATTLE, WA 98101
The Seattle Art Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday 10am to 5pm. Admission ranges from $13-20 per person with children ages 14 and under being FREE. There are senior, student, and military discounts available. The first Thursday of every month offers FREE admission for everyone.
Visit their website to see more info and COVID requirements HERE.
The Museum does have traveling exhibits that change 2-3x per year. When we visited it was “Monet at Etretat”. I personally love Monet and have visited his home in Giverny, France so we were excited to see his works. The special exhibits are separate from the regular museum exhibits and sometimes require additional admission fee.
The Seattle Art Museum is actually a good size and has lots of different types of art to offer. Not just your traditional painting and sculptures, SAM has pottery, china, fabrics, furniture and more.
The glassware and china room is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. It is ceiling to floor china sets and glassware from many different countries that are beautifully hand painted.
My personal favorite art is European and I was pleasantly surprised to see works of art from Matisse, Monet and Picasso.
The modern art is also very interesting. There is an exhibit on Native Tribal art as well.
SAM also has a restaurant and gift shop. Learn more about the restaurant HERE. Learn more about the gift shop HERE.
