Las Vegas Bucket List
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Just kidding, we didn’t get crazy. Las Vegas isn’t like The Hangover, really. Call it what you want, sin city, it’s an fun place to explore with lots to do. I could list a thousand things to see and do in Las Vegas, because there’s literally that many. Here are some of the things we really enjoyed, and things you should do while on your trip to Las Vegas!
Snap a Photo at the “Welcome to Las Vegas Sign”
This is a must do at least once! Yes, there will most likely be a line of people waiting but it only took us about fifteen minutes to get up to the sign. You can avoid waiting in line by snapping a photo off to the side. This attraction is open 24 hours so avoid people by going really early or really late.

Eat at an all-you-can-eat Buffet
So this Vegas classic is a must do. There are hundreds of buffets to choose from so take your pick. I have personally eaten at the Bellagio and The Wynn. We had dinner so obviously it was pricier than breakfast or lunch. It was $38.99 per person (5 and under is free) and they do offer a 10% military discount. It is so worth it. The amount of food they had was in fact, ridiculous. Ridiculously amazing. Tons of choices from Chinese, American, Italian, Indian, etc. The breads and butters were to die for. The desserts, well I got one of each. My personal favorites were the key lime pie and lemon meringue. Travis ate four plates of sushi and snow crab legs. He got our money’s worth for both of us.

The Wynn Buffet’s atmosphere is absolutely to die for. The floral atrium is worth the money even without the food. The Wynn’s food was delicious as well with plenty of main entrees, meats, and desserts to choose from. They have a potato bar, a taco bar, a crepe bar, and more. You can grab sushi, crab legs, and the sliced meats were incredible. We ate dinner here and it was $45.99 per adult. They only offer Brunch or Dinner.

Ride the Linq High Roller or Zipline
Bring out the daredevil inside and try out one of these height defying rides! The Linq Promenade is a newer, nicer area right off the strip with tons of restaurants and shops. This is where the High Roller (I kept calling it the London Eye) and zip line are. This is the only zip line on the strip.

We rode the High Roller. It is a pretty sight but just keep in mind the High Roller itself is not on the strip so you won’t get those sights. You’ll be able to see part of it and far out over it. It’s about a thirty minute ride and is around $22 per adult depending if you go during the day or night and if you want open bar access or not. They actually have a happy hour option which is an all you can drink open bar during your ride. It was a nice rest of our feet from all the walking. Aurora was too young to do the zip line so we opted not to, but it looks pretty cool, especially since you fly right over everybody walking!

See the Fountains & Conservatory at The Bellagio
The fountains play every night starting at 7 pm in front of The Bellagio. Inside you’ll find the Conservatory whose theme changes four times a year. Ironically, all three times I have visited Vegas it was in the first four months of the year so all of my photos feature Chinese New Year. It is gorgeous and these are all real, fresh flowers. Also check out the lobby, featured above is a gorgeous and colorful exhibit of Dale Chihuly Glass peices.

Take a Gondola Ride at The Venetian
The Venetian looks and feels like Italy as soon as you step inside. The canal runs through the entire hotel. You can ride in the Gondolas for an expensive $27 per person or $200 for a private gondola. They also have gondolas outside which are a little cheaper. The painted sky and Italian architecture inside really look like a street in Italy.

Grab a $5 Souvenir from a Cigarette Machine
Yes, you read that right, a cigarette machine! Inside The Cosmopolitan you can find three different re-purposed Cigarette machines. They contain handmade items such as artwork, jewelry, and more. You can grab one for just $5 (make sure you have exact change though).
Find a “Secret Bar”
What is a secret bar? It’s a bar with no signs or advertisements, that you literally have to “find” to get inside! Two secret bars that I know of are both inside of The Cosmopolitan. There is a food court area on the second floor and there’s a door in the back with a donkey on it. It literally looks like a fire exit. There is no sign but inside you will find the Ghost Donkey Bar.

On the first level of The Cosmpolitan there is a Barbershop (like an actual barbershop). You can get your hair cut here. The Barbershop bar is speakeasy themed. You’ll go inside the barbershop and tell the hostess how many people you have. She will direct you to the Janitors closet. The bouncer is inside the Janitor’s closet along with a giant metal door. He will do a special knock and the peep hole sliding door opens. They will confirm your party and then let you inside. They really try to make it like it was in the 1920’s during prohibition. The inside has the giant chandeliers, velvet furniture, and more.

Checkout “Old Vegas” and Fremont Street
Less than fifteen minutes from the strip you’ll come to the downtown area of old Vegas. This was the original location of the Strip before it moved to it’s current location. We parked in the public parking lot ($12), and walked to Fremont Street. This area has casinos, restaurants, street performers, live bands, and at night the thousands of television screens are lit up. This whole street is enclosed on the top with a sky of television screens. It is something unreal to see! Close by is also The Little Wedding Chapel and Pawn Stars Pawn Shop.

Visit the Neon Museum
This spot is small, but really cool. It is basically a junkyard of all the retired signs off of the strip. Hence the name “neon”. It makes an amazing backdrop for photos and has a lot of history about each sign and where it came from. Tickets are $30 and I recommend reserving them online ahead of time.

Take a Food Tour
Food Tours are the best way to figure out the restaurants with the different and delicious food! I honestly don’t think you can have a bad meal in Vegas but these tours know the best of the best including those hole in the wall places you never would’ve found by yourself. We have done two food tours in Las Vegas, Secret Food Tours and Taste Buzz Las Vegas Strip Foodie Tour. Both were great but they are very different in terms of the type of food stops, so for more info about each tour read my blog posts on them!

Spend an entire day just walking through the Resorts
Okay this may sound dumb to you, but every resort on the strip is absolutely gorgeous. They each have their own quirks, themes, and are filled with shops, restaurants, free entertainment, gardens, and more. To get the full experience you really just need to walk through them and take in the atmosphere. If you don’t have a full day to spare, check out my post “Resorts to Visit in Las Vegas” to pick out your favorites and plan!

See at least one show
Okay this is probably a no-brainer but you have got to see a show in Las Vegas! There are hundreds of shows to choose from. I personally always choose to see a Cirque du Soleil show. If you have never seen one they are incredible shows combining music, circus acts, dance, and acting. There are more than five Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas. Many artists do residencies in Las Vegas as well. You can see artists like Christina Aguliera, the Backstreet Boys, Kelly Clarkson, and more.

Spend $1 Gambling
Okay so maybe this is already on your list for Vegas. Or maybe this is the only reason you are going to Vegas. We personally don’t usually gamble but if you are in Vegas (and of age) you gotta try $1 so you can say you did it in Vegas! I tried my luck and actually won big time! I got myself a nice $15 from my spin on the $1 machine. Haha
See the Seven Magic Mountains
This art installation is one of the coolest pieces of art I have ever seen outdoors. It has been extended indefinitely and is just a 20 minute drive outside of the city. Its worth it!
