what to do in Langley washington
Washington,  Whidbey Island

Langley, Whidbey Island

Langley is my favorite town on Whidbey Island. Also by the sea, it provides a gorgeous overlook of the water and is filled with cute shops and restaurants. Here are some of our favorites from when we visited.

Before shopping we grabbed lunch at The Braeburn. This was one of my top favorite meals on the island. There is indoor and outdoor dining available.

I ordered the mash and holy cow. It was different than anything else I’d ever eaten and so delicious! smashed up potatoes, cheese, corned beef, and eggs with toast. On another trip I ordered the nasty, it was just as amazing! All of their food is deliciously home cooked.

They serve drinks in these amazing glasses hand blown at the shop next door. I really wanted to get a set but dang they cost a pretty penny.

Aurora got the kids beary pancake. She loved it. Mom ordered the summer salad.

Callahan’s Firehouse next door sells all of the hand blown glass items, including the glassware from The Braeburn.

We enjoyed walking around the shops downtown. Some of our favorite were:

bunnies langley whidbey island

My favorite part about Langley was actually all the bunnies roaming around. We had to ask a local what the story was. I have owned a bunny before and knew that these were domestic rabbits, not wild. Even funnier, we saw multiple spots where people had put out carrots, apples, and lettuce for them to eat.

Many, many years ago the County Fair was held each summer in Langley. The favorite game was for the kids. They’d set up a fence outside and if your child could catch a bunny inside the fence, they got to keep it. Only the workers didn’t much pay attention to bunnies that got out or bother to gather the remaining bunnies after the fair ended. So now there are tons of domestic breed rabbits that have bred with wild rabbits and freely roam around the streets of Langley. They are the cutest things I ever did see.

There is a path down to the beach from the overlook area downtown. Aurora was able to spot some seals from the telescope.

Make sure to stop and snap a photo at the end of the block by the angel wings mural.

Also at the end of the block is this park with a giant blue whale statue. You may recognize the artist, she also did the pig located in Pike Place Market in Seattle. If you spot a whale, go ring the bell!

Another neat spot is the sculpture garden located at the Rob Schouton Gallery. It is free to walk through and is open during regular business hours.

We would’ve loved to go inside the Langley Whale Center but unfortunately it was closed the day we visited. It is a small museum but looks like a cool spot!

Our last stop before heading home was a treat at Sweet Mona’s! Aurora got some gelato and I got a chocolate bunny truffle. Both were delicious! I also had some yummy caramels, they had over ten different flavors.
