Fort Casey State Park

Fort Casey is a must see when you visit Whidbey Island. This old Fort has the prettiest lighthouse I’ve ever seen, and offers gorgeous views of the island and surrounding ocean. Here’s info on passes you’ll need for entry and what to expect.

First we drove to the Lighthouse. There is very limited parking here but more parking is available closer to the old fort and is a very short walking distance up to the lighthouse. I advise to get there early. The earlier you arrive the less crowded it will be.

The lighthouse is absolutely beautiful. Though it is old, it has been restored (so it looks brand new). It is open seasonally to go inside and browse the exhibits as well as climb to the top.

The view on the coast by the lighthouse is breathtaking. There is no beach access here but over by the fort there is.

The fort has lots of hidden doorways, stairwells, and lots of places to explore. Many of the entryways offer bits of history inside on signs.

There is a path down to the beach.

We personally just walked around the fort and the lighthouse, but there are lots of trails to explore at Fort Casey also.
