Hiking: Washington & Oregon,  Washington

Iverson Spit Preserve

This hike is a must do on your visit to Camano Island. This loop is known for its bird watching, and I’m honestly not sure I’ve ever seen more birds on a single day in my life. There is access to the beach and it is beautiful! Here is what you need to know about hiking Iverson Spit Preserve Loop.

First thing to know, there is no pass required on this trail! Just park and start hiking. There is plenty of parking and a port-o-potty available at the parking lot trailhead.

I always use All Trails when we go for hikes. It will tell you where you are on the trail throughout your hike. View this hike on All Trails HERE.

The trail is gorgeous. It can definitely be a bit muddy if it has rained recently. I recommend rain boots, especially because it is quite marshy in the area.

The trail starts off with a view of the beach and coast.

The second part of the hike is through the woods. The tree cover is beautiful.

A little after the bridge we came across a sign that said “Hobbit Trail” and decided to check it out.

This area is so cute, if you have kids take them this way. You can have fun finding all of the gnomes hidden throughout this little forest area.

This trail was an easy, short, and beautiful hike.
