Ebey’s Landing National Historic Preserve

Ebey’s Landing is one of my favorite views on Whidbey Island. This Historic National Preserve is located on the coast with sweeping views on the surrounding islands and possibly a whale sighting! Here is what you need to know before visiting and trail info.

When we visited we hiked part of the Ebey’s Landing Trail, specifically the Fort Ebey Bluff Trail. We parked at the Ranger Station and walked on the bluff down to the beach and back. The trail offers stunning views of the coastline. You’ll also pass the home of the Ebey family and their bunkhouse. The Ebey family was one of the first American settlers on the island. You will need a Discover Pass to access the park. You can purchase one for $30/year online before you go. There is also a pay station in the parking lot where you can purchase a day pass for $10.

There are trail maps and restrooms available at the trailhead by the Ranger Station. The parking lot here is small, if you cant find parking there is more parking available down by the beach at the other end of the trail.

You can participate in the Junior Ranger Program and complete an activity book for a badge. Books are available at the Ranger Station or Ebey House (only open seasonally).

The day we visited the house was open and available for inside tours. It was cool to see inside the historic home of the Ebeys and read more about them.
