Cape Disappointment State Park

Cape Disappointment is part of the southern most point of Washington State and has some gorgeous coastal sites! Here is the hike we did inside Cape Disappointment State Park and info on what passes you’ll need to visit.

We arrived at the park around 9 am to do the Lighthouse Trail. I use All Trails to get directions to the trailhead inside the park and to keep track of where we are during the hike. I don’t hike without it!
View the trail on All Trails HERE.

There is plenty of parking and you can purchase a Discovery Pass at the Pay station beside the lot if you don’t have one.

There is a fork in the trail and if you take the right turn off it will take you to old Fort Canby and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center.

Fort Canby has lots of historical info and cool rooms and hallways to walk through. We also saw quite a few deer eating around it.

If you take the stairs and walk up, you’ll find the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. Unfortunately when we went it was closed.
Find more info about the center HERE.

Even though the center was closed, it still had a fantastic view!

Back to the trail we went and unfortunately we visited during the Coronavirus craziness and the Lighthouse was closed so we didn’t make it up to it.

After the Lighthouse trail we drove down to Waikiki Beach. There is a parking lot with restrooms, picnic tables, and trash cans here.

The beach was beautiful! Very cold with the wind but we still had fun.
