A Foodie’s Guide to Leavenworth
Leavenworth is filled with some of the most unique restaurants. Most are Bavarian themed restaurants with German cuisine and have very delicious offerings. Here are some of our favorites!

Munchen Haus
This delicious eatery is pet friendly on the patio, offers over 50 beers on tap, and has quite small menu. Here you can choose from sausage, hot dogs, pretzels, and side soups/chips. Travis grabbed a sausage with one their specialty mustards and I grabbed a regular hot dog. Comes with a baguette style bun and so good! I also grabbed a pretzel with Beecher’s flagship cheese to dip in.
The Danish Bakery
This spot is full of yumminess! I grabbed a cherry pinwheel thing (cant remember exactly what it was called) that was to die for! They also have pretzels, struedels, cheesecakes, and more.
Andrea’s Keller Restaurant
This was actually our favorite meal in Leavenworth! The inside of the restaurant is modeled like an old wine cellar and the waiters and waitresses are wearing full Bavarian themed outfits. Portions are big but they are so good you’ll eat it all. I ordered the Schnitzel Cordon Blue (their most popular dish) and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Schnitzel is a thin, breaded pork cutlet and the cordon blue was filled with pork, chicken, and Swiss cheese. It also came with a side of Spatzle. Spatzle is a type of noodel, and it was also delicious! Travis ordered the Beef Goulash with Spatzle. We were stuffed, in the best way.
Whistlepunk Ice Cream Co
Gab a sweet treat for a sunny afternoon at Whistlepunk. I’ll be honest Aurora’s mint chocolate chip didn’t taste like mint chocolate chip AT ALL. My lemon curd was pretty good.
King Ludwigs
Here, you can grab all the German plates, as well as a giant pretzel. This pretzel was my second favorite in town. It was as big as my head and came with a yummy beer cheese dipping sauce.
Gingerbread Factory
This bakery has some really great cookies, danishes, gingerbread (duh) and more. I’m actually not a fan of gingerbread usually but their gingerbread cookies were fantastic! Such a good squishy texture. Also, the inside where you walk in has the cutest gingerbread tree full of ornaments and a cottage.
Fresh Burger Cafe
I know what you’re thinking, why did we get burgers in a Bavarian village? We were really craving some burgers! The burgers and fries did not disappoint.
Mozart’s Steakhouse
Right up there with Andrea’s Keller restaurant, Mozart’s was one of the best meals I had. We went here on a girls trip and the three of us split the Mozart’s Platter for Two. It was filled with schnitzel, Bratwurst, cabbage, and potatoes. It was divine.
Rhein Haus
I saved the best for last. Rhein Haus not only has the BEST pretzel in town (voted best multiple years in a row, and I 100% agree) but it also has the best view! Grab a table on the patio bar to people watch and see the hustle bustle of downtown. They have multiple pretzel options but the giant one is worth the $16. When I say its huge, I mean it. I ate on it for two days and still only got halfway through it. It comes with four dipping sauces: pomento cheese, cream cheese, specialty mustard, and beer cheese. Also, pay for an extra sauce, the chocolate ganache. Its worth the extra!
