If you are looking for something different as an activity for your kids this summer, go check out the Pioneer Farm & Museum in Eatonville. This trip will be an educational and fun experience, and here is what to expect when you visit.

The Pioneer Farm is open daily in the summer from 11:15 am – 4 pm. Tours are offered approximately every fifteen minutes and do not need to be scheduled ahead of time. You can just show up and hop on the next tour. Tickets are available upon arrival and they do offer a 10% military discount. The best deal, however, is available on Groupon where you can get 25% off tickets.

Tours on the farm last about an hour and a half. You and your party will be able to tour three different pioneer cabins, a barn, and a blacksmith shop. Your guide will give you a brief history of the families that lived there and what they did. You will get to see authentic pioneer tools, clothing, and more. 

Inside the “activity cabin” your kids will be able to complete pioneer chores: washing clothes with a washboard, grinding corn to make corn meal, beating a rug and more. They will also get to play with pioneer toys.

When exploring the barn, you’ll get to see and pet the animals. Make sure your kids are wearing close toed shoes so they can go inside the cages to pet the animals. Animals include a horse, cow, bunny, pig, goat, ducks and more!

At the blacksmith barn the kids can learn woodworking skills and get to try out some tools used by pioneers. There is also a General Store on property which has some souvenirs and snacks available for purchase. Also, a note, if you need to use the restroom during your visit you will get an authentic pioneer experience using an outhouse.
