What to do in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle
Fremont is a neighborhood of Seattle just 45ish minutes from JBLM! There is lots to do and check out in the area. We went on a Sunday so that we could do the Fremont Sunday Market. It is held year round, every Sunday, rain or shine. Dogs are welcome!
I would describe the Fremont Sunday Market as a cross between a flea market and a traditional farmers market. They had a ton of vendors set up in the street as well as a small indoor building. Yard sale type items, vintage, handmade vendors, food trucks, veggies, flowers, and more! We loved our Unicorn Macaroon from Alexandra’s Macaroons!
The Seattle Barkery is a food truck dedicated to dogs. Yes, you read that right. Home made dog treats fill this truck and they are parked here every Sunday!
We grabbed Muffin a paw peanut butter treat and they gave him a free treat out of the “Treat Shoot” since it was his first visit.
If Muffin is getting treats, I need one too! I decided to grab a Fish Waffle from Bean Fish. Holy YUM! I got the smore’s which is a waffle filled with marshmallow, chocolate, and crushed fortune cookies.

After we got our fill of shopping and food, we decided to walk around the Fremont area. Literally right next to the Fremont Sunday Market is the Theo Chocolate Factory. They have a factory tour as well as a retail store located here!
The tour is just an hour long and only $12 per person. I highly suggest making reservations ahead of time on their website but we got lucky as they had openings for the next tour. Only children over the age of 6 are permitted.
We learned about the chocolate making process, the farms located around the world where they get their cocoa beans from and got to sample a TONof chocolate.
We did get to see inside the factory and video footage of the process. It was a Sunday so there weren’t people actually working, but that would’ve been really cool to see if you go on a week day!
Overall it was a neat little experience and very sweet. Get my pun there?
After the tour we were showed into the retail store where we got more samples, and a discount of 20% whatever we wanted to buy. They’ve got a big selection of chocolate bars, caramels, and more.

We were pretty hungry at this point for real food so we decided to head to Norm’s Eatery. This is the only restaurant you’ll find in the area that allows dogs to eat with you inside the restaurant.
Not only can your dog dine with you, they can also order their own selection from the dog menu!
Muffin sat at the table right next to me. His order came in a dog bowl so he could chow down while we ate. The people food was also good! Aurora and I split a Belgium waffle topped with local berries. Not a five star restaurant but it hit the spot. I’d go there again just so Muffin can dine with us, it was a really neat experience!

We really enjoyed our (mostly) dog friendly day checking out Fremont!
Finding the fun everywhere life takes us!
