Thritylicious Masquerade: 30th Birthday Party
I turned the big 29 + 1 this year so I knew I wanted to go all out for a party. It is also the year we are moving to a different country so made it a “going away” party as well. Pink is my favorite color so I didn’t want to do the normal “dirty thirty” or “funeral of my twenties” party. The idea of a masquerade sounded really fun and after googling some terms I liked a “Thirtylicious” party the best. So, here are all of the details for my Thirtylicious Masquerade Birthday Party.

For venue I went with GRLS Studios in Downtown Tacoma. This is a small event space that is often used for smaller parties and photoshoots. I had used this space for all of my boutique’s website photos when I owned it and loved how they turned out. It was a great size for my twelve party guests. They have props, backdrops and some furniture for your use in the space. View more details and rates on their website HERE or their Instagram HERE.
I ordered my Birthday Party invitations from Basic Invite. They had many cute designs and I was able to customize the colors to match my color scheme. They came quickly and were great quality. You can read more about my partnership with Basic Invite in my post HERE.
First up, decor. Amazon is always my go-to for parties. If it doesn’t work or if I don’t end up using it, Amazon has FREE returns and FREE shipping for Prime Members. love having photo backdrops and so it was a no-brainer for my party. The streamers have a sticky top so they can stick to the wall and balloon arches make a really easy backdrop accent. Number balloons are a great way to show off whoever’s age it is and make a nice prop for photos.
For food I did:
Custom Birthday Cookies
Pink Dessert Tray
Veggie Shot Cups
Initial Charcuterie Trays
Safe & Fair Popcorn
My custom cookies turned out AMAZING! I was so happy with them. One of my go-to cookie gals, Caits in the Kitchen, did them for me. She is local to the DuPont area and you can find her Instagram HERE. I had shopped for a bunch of pink dessert items (cookies, chocolates, marshmallows, petit fours) and put together this dessert tray, them accented with my custom cookies.
I also put together these charcuterie initial trays myself. The initial trays are from Hobby Lobby and I’d been wanting to use these for something for a while. I lined them with baking paper and then started filling in with cut cheeses, chocolates, crackers, tiny jellies, fruits and nuts.
My cake was purchased at good ole Walmart. I actually love Walmart cakes. They taste great, and are cheap. What I usually do is pick out a design in the cake designs book on the counter then ask them to customize the colors to fit my party theme. I also usually skip writing and the cake kit. So what I did was purchase a cake with the colors I wanted and then put all of the decor on myself.
The Birthday Cake popcorn is from Safe & Fair, is delicious and looks great just in a bowl by itself. The veggie shots quick and easy to put together. I bought clear shot glasses from the Dollar Tree and squirted some ranch in the bottom. (Hummus would be a great option too). I cut up bell peppers and added those, grape tomatoes, baby carrots and snow peas in the cup.
For a fun twist, I hired Sweet as Sugar Cotton Candy. She was at the party in the beginning making cotton candy for everyone and also had some pre-made for my guests to take home after the party. She customized her cart to fit my birthday theme and dressed fancy too! Sweet as Sugar is local to the Central area and you can check out her Instagram HERE.
She was so sweet and even customized the labels on the take home cups to say “Olivia’s Thirtylicious Party”. Not to mention the cotton candy cart was a huge hit for my guests to take photos with, and the cotton candy was delicious.
I had seen these fun feather centerpieces at a recent Great Gatsby party I went to and immediately loved them. I decided to re-create them with my own twist for decor in the table. I put some faux pearl strands on them and used floral foam balls cut in half to hold the feathers in place. Glitter/sequin tablecloths and runners were also a must. I put together the flower arrangements myself with vases I found at local thrift shops and fresh flowers from the grocery store.
For a fun touch I had a little note that said to write me a note to read on the plane. I grabbed some plain note cards with envelopes and had pens for people to use on this side table.
The party itself was so much fun. We always have such a great time chatting and eating with friends.
As friends arrived I made sure to get a photo with each person. Majority of the photos you see in this article were taken by the photographer I hired for the party, Brittany Hanson Photography. She was fabulous and I loved being able to be off my phone and just enjoy my guests. She is local to the Olympia area and you can find her website HERE and her Instagram HERE.
In case you did not notice on my invitation, I did request for everyone to wear their little black dress. I also asked everyone to bring a mask and we had a little voting contest for everyones favorite one. I had a prize for the winner!
As far as games go, I created two on the Canva App. I do personally pay for Canva Pro because I use it so frequently but there are plenty of FREE graphics and templates you can use. I created the Bingo cards with my party’s color scheme and all of my “favorite things”. We actually played where you had to get all “O”s. I had a prize for the winner.
I also made another graphic on Canva for a game, this one was just for me. We played “Never have I ever” but it was things that I personally had never done. So everyone raised their hands and I went line by line saying these things out loud. If they had done them, then they had to put their hands down. The only person left got a prize!
The last game we played was one of my favorites, the Saran Wrap ball game. Before the party I had bought some small items to “fill” the ball with. Basically I grabbed some nail polishes, lip balms, $5 and $10 gift cards to some of my favorite stores, hair clips, hair ties, chocolate bars, nail files, earrings…just some small but fun items. Then I grabbed two rolls of plastic wrap from the store and started rolling the items up. You roll one at a time and eventually it will form a huge ball full of goodies. Everyone stood in a circle and passed the ball until I stopped the music. Whoever had the ball when the music stopped got to unwrap the ball until a prize came out.
Last but not least we took a group photo and everyone helped me clean up the space and load my car. I love having parties and hosting events. From the food, to decor and themes, it’s always been something I love doing. Read about more of the parties/events I’ve done HERE.
Finding the fun everywhere life takes us!
