The Royal Hawaiian Luxury Resort
I fell in love with the royal Hawaiian Hotel the first time I saw it. Besides the fact that it is pink (my favorite color) is if full of history and charm. We finally had the opportunity to stay here our third trip to the island.

Royal Hawaiian Hotel
2259 Kalakaua Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815
This gorgeous hotel is part of The Luxury Collection. One of the first few hotels on Waikiki Beach, it opened to guests in 1927. It is full of history and my favorite hotel in Waikiki by far. You’ll pay a pretty penny to stay here but in my opinion, its worth it. The room was one of the most luxurious we’ve ever stayed in and the customer service at the resort is exceptional.

The hotel is beautiful everywhere you look. As soon as you step inside you will feel the elegance. Upon check in you will receive their signature banana muffins. They were so yummy!
Inside the lobby and around the resort there are several shops. My favorite would be the Royal Hawaiian shop in the lobby which has multiple souvenirs in their signature pink color.

The gorgeous lobby is open air and has plenty of seating around to watch the sunrise or sunset on the beach. The green open area is perfect for the kids to play. This is also where they host events and weddings.
The view of the beach speaks for itself. It is as picture perfect as a post card.
Our room was absolutely amazing. From the hotel room door (carved Koa wood) to the inside and amenities. We had a standard room with two queen beds. We had a mini fridge and safe for valuables. Not pictured is our massive walk in closet which fit all 8 (no, I don’t pack lightly) of our suitcases. It also contained two sets of slippers and two robs for us to use during our stay.

Included in your paid Daily Resort Fee is a multitude of activities for you to participate in. Unfortunately for us attendance was extremely limited (thanks COVID) and had to be reserved in advance. We only stayed for three nights and so we were unable to participate in any events.

There are a few restaurants on site to choose from at the hotel. All are delicious and have an excellent view.

First up is the Mai Tai Bar. We’ve eaten here several times but the most recent trip I grabbed the burger and Travis ordered the Mahi Mahi. They do have a kids menu available so the table seating is open to kids as well. Don’t forget to grab one of the signature Royal Hawaiian Mai Tais.

By far one of my favorite breakfasts on the island is the Surf Lanai. With a breathtaking few and delicious food, this spot also turns into Azure at night for an amazing dinner spot. We have never gotten to enjoy Azure but we haven’t eaten breakfast several times at Surf Lanai.

They do offer a continental breakfast buffet full of parfaits, pastries, and fresh fruit. It is unlimited so go back as much as you want.
My personal favorite is the Pink Palace Pancakes. They are delicious!

The Royal Hawaiian Hotel’s pool is small but charming. The pink chairs match the rest of the resort’s esthetic. Chairs and cabanas can be reserved starting at 8:00am the day you’d like to lounge. You do not have to reserve a chair just to play in the pool.
The location of the Royal Hawaiian is also a fantastic spot. Not only is it located on the beach in Waikiki but it is within walking distance to most of the hot spots in Waikiki. There are over 50 restaurants and shops within a mile of the resort. Attached to the hotel is the Royal Hawaiian Center Mall, one of my favorites.
Out of the front entrance of the hotel where parking and valet are, you can walk across to the Sheraton Resort. Royal Hawaiian hotel guests get access to the family pool here as well as the Royal Hawaiian pool.
The family pool is much bigger and is full of fun for kiddos. There are water slides and a hot tub. There is also a gorgeous view of Diamond Head and some lush beautiful palm trees.
Overall we had a fantastic stay at the Royal Hawaiian and we cant wait to visit again.
