Its no secret I love flowers and when I saw an advertisement for the Swan Island Dahlia Farm in Oregon we had to go! The dahlia festival runs August through September and the farm is not far from Portland. Here’s what you need to know before you go!

Swan Island Dahlia Farm
995 NW 22nd Ave, Canby, OR 97013
Open August-September 9am – 5:30pm daily
(Closed Wednesdays)
You can stroll through almost 4o acres of dahlias at the farm. We visited the first weekend of August and while there were a couple of rows blooming, there were not in full bloom yet. There is no entry fee into the fields. Dogs are allowed on the farm. At the farm there are port-o-pottys, a gift shop, fresh cut flowers available for purchase, and food vendors. You are also allowed to bring in your own food.
For more information on visiting the farm, view their website HERE.
I was so surprised at the variety of dahlias. There are so many different shapes, sizes, and colors (some even as big as my head). There are even mixed colors. We loved reading all of the fancy names for each one too.
If its rained recently then the fields can be a bit muddy, so be prepared.
The gift shop is actually really cute with lots of gift items (not your typical farm shop).
U-pick is not available at the farm but there are fresh cut dahlias available for purchase. This is a self serve area outside of the gift shop and is cash only. There are bags and a sink so you can wrap your flowers with water before taking them home. Flowers are $7 per bundle or 3 bundles for $20.
After ou’ve strolled through the fields make sure to browse the garden too. The garden even has new varieties of dahlias being intorduced.
There are plenty of picnic tables in a covered area to grab lunch at. As I previously mentioned you can bring in your own food. We did not plan ahead so we were glad there were some food trucks on site. The food trucks change and there is a calendar available to view food options on their website HERE.
