Shark’s Cove
Sharks Cove is one of our favorite beaches on the island to snorkel at. This kid friendly beach is a great option if you need little or no waves and shallow water. Also have no fear, there are no sharks.

Sharks Cove is located up near North shore. There is free parking available, but not a lot of it. Your best bet is to find someone leaving and grab their spot (this has worked for us both times we visited), or find street parking nearby. There are restrooms and shower facilities near the parking lot. The beach area is small but most people hang out in the water. Shark’s Cove has a large rock wall that blocks the big ocean waves and has shallow pools perfect for snorkeling. The beach and snorkel pools are very rocky, make sure to wear water shoes. The rocks are sharp and will cut your feet. I love my Tevas. You can click on the photo below to view and shop.
These pools are so shallow you can see fish without snorkeling. There is no snorkel rental on site so make sure to bring your own gear. We love walking around the tide pools and catching crabs and shell hunting too.
Take a walk out on the rocks and explore the wall itself, it is a beautiful view of the coast and open ocean. Be very careful climbing on the rocks, it is dangerous.
There a few “hot tub” pools. They are so shallow when the tide is out that the water heats up from the sun. Low tide is the best time to go to Shark’s Cove. Just google “Pupukea beach tide charts” to find tide times for each day.
