Resorts to Visit in Waikiki

Waikiki Beach has no shortage of gorgeous resorts. Some are brand and renovated to a trendy modern, some are historic and have 200 year old trees. Others are showing off with giant aquariums two stories tall in their lobby. Here are a few of my favorite and what to see and do when you walk around.

Royal Hawaiian
2259 Kalakaua Avenue
Honolulu, HI 96815

The Royal Hawaiian is my favorite Resort in Waikiki Beach. It has a lot to do with the architecture, and the fact that it is pink (my favorite color). It is beautiful and it is one of the older resorts in Waikiki. It features shops, restaurants, and a gorgeous view. It is also connected to the Royal Hawaiian Center which is a big three story mall.

To read a review of their restaurant, read my post “A Foodie’s Guide to Waikiki” HERE.

Moana Surfrider
2365 Kalakaua Avenue
Honolulu, HI 96815

The Moana Surfrider was the first resort built on Waikiki Beach. It is a gorgeous (giant) white hotel filled with history. The hotel has lots of old newspaper clippings and photos of the hotel when it was first built.

The Moana Surfrider is known for it’s giant Banyan Tree in the courtyard. This is one of the oldest trees on the island, it was planted in 1904.

The atmosphere at both restaurants outside under the Banyan tree is fantastic. It’s also on the beach so you can watch the Catamaran boats coming in and out. They’ve got live music on the weekends. To read my review of their restaurant, click HERE.

Surfjack Hotel
412 Lewers Street
Honolulu, HI 96815

This hotel has a much different vibe than the massive resorts on the beach. This hotel is quiet, quaint, and has an old timey retro feel. It has a really cute Coffee shop and boutique inside as well as a restaurant. The pool is my favorite, it says “Wish you were here”.

Alohilani Resort
2490 Kalakaua Avenue
Honolulu, HI 96815

We passed by this resort every day walking to the beach from our hotel and with all the Aston Martin’s and Corvettes parked outside it peaked my interest to walk inside and check it out. Low and behold there is a two story aquarium inside.

Hilton Hawaiian Village
2005 Kalia Road
Honolulu, HI 96815

This mega resort owns the largest stretch of beach on Waikiki. They have multiple towers, multiple pools, and their own luau. My suggestion is to visit on a Friday night. This is when they do the fireworks over Waikiki Beach and its a great spectacle to watch. The Hilton Hawaiian Village also has their own mall filled with shops and restaurants so you can shop, dine, and view the fireworks for a fun night.
