Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is one of the top rated activities in Palm Springs, and for good reason. The tram has one of the best views of Coachella Valley from the top. Here’s what to expect on the ride and when you get to the top.

Tram tickets range from $16-28 per person and can be purchased ahead of time online. I highly recommend purchasing your tickets online ahead of time. Tickets do sell out and the wait for stand by (if you don’t have tickets) can be hours long.
Upon arrival you will park in a designated parking lot and take the tram up to the entrance. If you have a ticket you shouldn’t have to wait long to board. There are two trams running and the ride to the top is only about fifteen minutes.
We were surprised to find out during the ride that the floor of the tram rotates 360 degrees during your ride. There was an elderly couple next to us on the ride up that didn’t understand what was happening and tried to stand still so they were basically smashing us in-between themselves and the rest of the people that were rotating with the floor. So, make sure to them the floor do its job so you can enjoy the view from every angle on the ride.
Once you get to the top you will actually be inside the San Jacinto State Park. We had no idea that it was a state park and that there were lots of hiking trails, so we were ill prepared. You can also take the tram one way if you prefer to hike. You can hike down from the tram after you’ve taken it up (and vise versa).

There is a ranger station on the bottom floor of the tram building where you can find more info on hikes and trails.
There is a paved pathway that goes down about a quarter mile. We walked to the bottom just to look around, the woods in this area are very lush.
Back inside the tram building there are several lookout areas, a bar, a sit down restaurant and a grab and go type eatery. I recommend making reservations if you want to dine at the sit down restaurant.

The view of Coachella Valley from the top is stunning. You can see all of Palm Springs from here.
