Desert Tasty Food Tours

Food tours are one of my favorite activities to do when visiting somewhere new. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Palm Springs has a food tour called Desert Tasty Tours. Here was our experience and what to expect if you take a tour with them.

Our tour with Desert Tasty Tours was discounted in exchange for a review of our experience, but all opinions and photos in this article are my own.

Desert Tasty Tours offers two different walking food tours in Palm Springs. We personally did the Palm Canyon Tour but they also offer an El Paseo Tour. The Palm Canyon Tour is a guided walking food tour down Palm Canyon Drive where you will visit seven different locations to sample some delicious food. Overall, you will walk about a mile on the tour and it will last approximately three hours.

Tickets are $85 per person and will need to be booked ahead of time. Palm Canyon Drive tours are available almost every day at 11am.
You can view their calendar and book a tour HERE.

Our first stop was Lulu’s California Bistro. I was excited because this was one of the places I had on my list for us to eat at. Here we were served a glass of wine and some freshly made Eggplant Parmesan. I’m sure Eggplant Parmesan is not something most people order off the menu but I can tell you that I enjoy it and this is one of the best I’ve ever tasted!

Maracas Mexican Cantini
Maracas is a a fun and upbeat Mexican restaurant in the heart of Palm Canyon Drive. Of course we were treated to some chips and salsa first. We also got a glass of “Mexican Lemonade” as our server referred to it as, a Margarita. The Margarita was strong and on the rocks with salt on the rim (as it should be).

For our main course we had four different street tacos to taste: carnitas, shredded chicken, fish and carne asada. The carne asada was my personal favorite.

Olive A’Sudden
Instead of sitting down at a restaurant this one is a quick stop where you will get to sample some different olive oils and vinegars. I’m personally not a fan but my mom LOVES sampling different combinations of these and eats them daily. Olive A’Sudden also has rubs, pastas, and marinades. You will get to take home a bottle of your favorite.

Brandini Toffee
This was my favorite stop because I’m a huge fan of desserts. Brandini Toffee was started by a teenager who needed to raise some money for a school trip. Years later they have several locations and the most delicious toffee I’ve ever tried. We actually liked it so much that we went back after the tour for more.

On the tour we sampled the Toffee & the Cashew Toffee Popcorn. When we went back we also grabbed a freshly dipped toffee ice cream bar and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with toffee on top.

Bills Pizza
There are plenty of pizza places in Palm Springs but Bill’s Pizza is top rated and has quite a few unique pizza flavors to choose from. We sampled the “Elton John” pizza. Essentially a veggie lover’s pizza it is made with garlic infused olive oil sauce and topped with artichoke hearts, tomatoes, cooked spinach, red onions and four cheeses including feta. I’ll say it was not my personal favorite, I’m a plain cheese or pepperoni kind of girl (I know boring) but many of their pizza flavors sound amazing.

Tutti Frutti
Our last stop was Tutti Fruitti and it was the perfect cool treat for a hot day in Palm Springs. Tutti Frutti offers milkshakes, smoothies, frozen yogurt and freshly made juices. Our tour group got a large tray full of ten different frozen yogurt flavors to try. We also got to sample a date shake. Palm Springs is famous for dates, and they are its top agricultural revenue. The date shake was my favorite and they also gave us some medjol dates to sample by themselves.
