Palm Canyon Oasis Hike
Palm Canyon is the largest oasis in the Palm Springs area. This hike is easy and provides stunning palm views in the middle of the desert with picnicking areas and shade. Here’s info on the hike, cost, and what to expect.
Palm Canyon Trail
Easy, 2 Miles
No Dogs
This trail offers a beautiful view through an oasis. In the canyon there are tons of shady spots and picnic tables available for your use. There are no restrooms in the canyon so go at the Visitor’s Center before hiking. The trail itself is mostly shaded but there are a few spots in the sun.
View the trail map on All Trails HERE.
This trail is located on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation. There are quite a few hikes available in the area. You will need to pay an entrance fee onto the reservation. Admission is $15 per adult and $7 per child ages 6-12. Active duty military is FREE (not dependents, only the member). Daily hours onto the reservation are 7:30am to 5pm.
Read more info on Agua Caliente’s Tribe website HERE.
The parking lot for the trail is by the Visitor’s Center. The Visitor’s Center has restrooms (port-o-potty), a gift shop, and a cafĂ©. You can also find Park Rangers here to answer any questions you may have about hiking or the area.
The gift shop has souvenirs, locally made Indian crafts, and some drinks/snacks. Outside the gift shop there is a concession stand offering hot dogs, chips, drinks, etc. Make sure you bring enough food and water for everyone in your party for the hike.
Upon entering the canyon you’ll be greeted with a creek and palm trees galore. This is where you can find picnic tables and trash cans in the shaded areas.
The palm trees are so tall! We felt like ants walking under them.
We also saw some cool rock formations on the hike.
Make sure to watch your feet, there are cactus on the trail.
