Moorten Botanical Gardens
The Moorten Botanical Gardens are a must stop on your trip to Palm Springs. These botanical gardens are full of cacti, plants and trees native to the area. This is also home to the only “cactarium” in the world, a cactus planetarium. Plan for 30 minutes to an hour for this stop and dress for some cute photos! Here is what to expect on your visit.

Palm Springs, CA 92264
The Moorten Botanical gardens are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday with hours that change seasonally. Check their website for current hours. Admission is $5 per adult and $2 per child ages 5-15. Children under five are free.
View their website HERE.
You can walk through the gardens at your own pace. I recommend going when they open so there are less people during your visit. It can get crowded in some areas.
I loved seeing all of the different types of cactus and desert plants. We have never lived in a desert so all of these were new to us and really unique.
By far the most popular spot is the “cactarium”. I’m sure if you’ve scrolled through Instagram you have seen a photo here, the cactarium is one of the most photographed spots in Palm Springs. You may have to wait a few minutes to get a photo without random people in the background but it is worth it!
The gardens also have a plant nursery where you can purchase plants and succulents to take home. FYI you can take live plants in your carry on if you are flying domestic (we bought two baby cactus to take home).
Make sure to stop and say hello to the resident tortoise too.
