Where to Eat and Shop in the Proctor District of Tacoma

The Proctor district of Tacoma is an up and coming neighborhood with lots to do. It is a neat area with shops and restaurants, oh and fish. It’s funny because I feel like every city has some type of animal statue throughout the city, and for Tacoma, it’s Salmon. You can find differently decorated versions in all the districts of Tacoma.

Do yourself a favor and start out with a meal at Waffle Stop. Whether it’s morning or afternoon, they serve waffles all day, and they are delicious. I grabbed the Very Berry Medley waffles and Travis (who always goes for spicy) got the Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles. I’m partial to my choice because I’m not a fan of spicy, but if honey sriracha is your thing then you’ll like it!

Once your belly is full start walking and you will come across the perfect shops for Northwest items, Tacoma souvenirs and Washington stuff. You can find some great items between The Proctor Mercantile and The Pacific Northwest Shop. Mugs, tea towels, cards, decals, all this as well as locally made items and goods.

If you’re looking for apparel specific to Tacoma, head to T Town Trading Co. They have tons of different styles and designs.

Need to pick up something for your pooch? Head to WAG, a locally owned pet shop. They have Tacoma bandannas and homemade treats.

If you are into gently used items, there are several stores to choose from! I personally like Megs & Mo Upscale Resale the best. They are set up like a boutique and have lots of name brand items as well as a vintage section. There is also Blue; A Goodwill Boutique and the American Cancer Society Thrift shop here.

Hands down my favorite store in the Proctor district has got to be Compass Rose. They have a mix of everything from kitchenware, to jewelry, to Rifle Paper Co. They also have a good selection of local items. The store is so immaculate it’ll make you want to buy one of everything in the store.

You can “spot” Sparkie the fish next to the Proctor Firehouse.

An excellent fit for the area, Playback Sports has gently used gear for any and all sports, outdoor activities, and more. They’ve got raincoats, workout clothes, outdoor items, hiking shoes, sports equipment for kids and adults, ski and snowboard gear, bikes, and so much more! You can get it at a fraction of the cost and you can consign your old gear that you don’t use anymore.

A cute and brand new boutique in the area is worth checking out, The Urban Dandelion. She had just opened her doors a week prior to me visiting and had some really cute home decor, clothing, and locally made items.

An even newer store, is Fernseed. It’s a super cute plant gift shop. They have plenty of pots and plants to choose from along with macrame holders and stands. There’s are also some gift items inside to choose from if you don’t have a green thumb.
