Devil’s Bridge Hike
Devil’s Bridge is one of the coolest hikes I’ve ever been on and is a must do on your trip to Sedona, Arizona! This is a very popular hike that usually gets crowded so here are some tips for this trail!

Devil’s Bridge Trail
3.9 Miles, Moderate
Dog Friendly
Devil’s Bridge is a moderately rated hike. We did it with our dog and our nine year old. Keep in mind there is no shade on the trail. I recommend arriving at the trailhead between sunrise and 9am. We arrived at 8:45am and the parking lot was already full. Not to worry, you can park on the side of the street but this makes your walk longer. At the trailhead there are restrooms available but nothing on the trail itself.
View the trail on All Trails HERE.
If you have a high clearance 4×4 vehicle then you can shave off a mile by driving up directly to the trailhead. We had an AWD vehicle but it would not have made the clearance. You will notice that the road to the trailhead has large rocks blocking it from vehicles, this is to simulate the high clearance you need to drive down this portion of the trail and dissuade vehicles from pursuing. Many people do damage vehicles and get stuck attempting this drive, so proceed with caution.
There are quite a few century trees on the trail. This tree grows for 20-30 years before it blooms and once it blooms, it dies. We saw tons of these pretty yellow century tree blooms.
There are a lot of cacti close to the trail. We did not see much wildlife except a few lizards here and there.
The last bit of the hike is challenging with stairs and an uphill climb.
Before you get to the bridge you will come to a gorgeous lookout. Take some time to stop here and snap some photos of the gorgeous view of the red rocks!
Be prepared for a line to get photos on the bridge. When we arrived to the top there was a line of about 20 people ahead of us waiting. It took us about 35-40 minutes to get to the front for our photos. Have one person in your party stand/sit in the line while the rest go take a break in the shade or enjoy a snack.
(Mostly) everyone was nice and respectful of taking each other’s photos. I offered to take the couple’s photo in front of us and they took ours in return. My advice is to decide where you want to stand for the photos and where you want it taken from before you get to the front of the line. This will prevent delay when it is your turn.
Devil’s Bridge is wider than it looks in photos. It was not as scary walking on it as it may seem. We did hold Aurora’s hand, carry the dog, and walked very slowly. Please BE CAREFUL!
