Cathedral Rock Hike
Cathedral Rock had the most amazing view of the Red Rocks anywhere in Sedona. This short and challenging hike is worth it. Here is what to expect on your hike.

Cathedral Rock Hike
1.2 Miles, Hard
This hike is not for the weary, it is pretty challenging and requires rock scrambling on all fours in some parts. If you hike on a Monday through Wednesday then you can park directly at the trailhead. If you plan to hike on a Thursday through Sunday then you will have to use the Sedona Shuttle to access the trailhead. This is a FREE shuttle service provided by the city of Sedona to make hiking easier for all. The shuttle runs from the parking lot to the trailhead every fifteen minutes.

If you park at the trailhead to hike then keep in mind you will need to purchase a pass for your vehicle. If you take the shuttle to the trailhead a pass is not needed.
The views throughout this hike are absolutely amazing. These are the best scenes of the Red Rocks we found on our trip to Sedona.
There are other trails here so make sure to follow the signs for “Cathedral Rock”. There are trail markers with wire rock baskets showing the easiest route up.
Several spots on the trail require rock scrambling (climbing on all fours). I would not advise trekking poles because carrying them will not leave your hands free to climb.
The view at the top is breathtaking.
Found this heart on a tree at the top and I couldn’t resist snapping a photo!
The “Cathedral Rock Vortex” is located close to the top. You will see the vortexes advertised all over Sedona. We finally asked one of our tour guides and he said that the vortexes are completely made up for a tourist draw. Take with that what you will!
