A Guide to Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls

The Columbia River Gorge offers an abundance of beautiful waterfalls. At one point on the Cascades Highway they are literally every twenty feet! You couldn’t possibly stop at all of them in one day but these are my favorites and in my opinion, the best to stop at.

I will be starting with the furthest waterfall and working our way back towards Portland/Seattle.

Wahclella Falls Trail
1.9 Miles, Out & Back

This one was one of my top two favorites of the day. This trail is a bit longer than the others since it is not right by the parking lot, but it is worth it! This waterfall offers stunning views and is not nearly as crowded as some of the other stops.

Multnomah Falls

This waterfall is the most popular of the hikes along the Columbia River Gorge, so expect it to be a bit crowded. Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in Oregon, plummeting 620 feet. There are different viewpoints for the falls with varying trail lengths. This trail is great for smaller kids and is wheelchair accessible to the main viewpoint by the visitor’s center. If you plan to visit during high season (May 26 -September 4) then you will need a $2 entry permit.

Latourell Falls Trail
2 Miles, Loop
Moderate
Dog Friendly
This waterfall is a very short walk down to the base of the falls and can be viewed partially from the road. Latourell is another beautiful waterfall along the gorge.
