Six Pumpkin Patches to visit in the South Sound Area

‘Tis the season for Pumpkin Spice and everything nice. Oh and Pumpkin Patches! We’ve got the scoop on hours, prices, and what each Farm has to offer. We took a few weekends to check them out and these are listed in no particular order.

Rutledge Corn Maze & Farm
302 93rd Avenue SE, Olympia

We had a great time at Rutledge! It’s got a ton of activities, a large fire pit, and plenty of picnic tables to bring lunch and eat there. Aurora had fun on the swing set, and trying her hand at roping the wooden steers. There are chickens to see, a corn cannon with a chance to win $75, and plenty of giant pumpkins to choose from. 

Let’s be real, we go to Pumpkin Patches to get cute photos…and to have fun…but mostly for cute photos.

We tried the corn maze, (emphasis on try) there are two entrances and one includes a fun mystery card to figure out who killed Farmer Joe. If I’m being honest we walked through it for an hour, got lost twice, and only found one clue for Farmer Joe. So ultimately we decided to go do some other activities. There is a huge variety of pumpkins to choose from. Rutledge also has a produce stand set up with a variety of pumpkins, squashes, and fruits/vegetables. 

Into scary fun? Rutledge Farms has nighttime activities for older kids and adults including private fire pit rental, zombie paintball, and a haunted corn maze. The fire pit areas can be rented by a time slot of two hours for $70.

Rutledge Farms has plenty of photo spots, my favorite being the gorgeous Sunflower Field! You can pick the sunflowers for $1 per stem. 

Rutledge Farm has a concession stand with snack type foods including popcorn, cookies, chips, candy, drinks, etc and are very reasonably priced! Aurora also enjoyed the cow train pulled by a tractor around the farm. Rutledge has a ton of activities to choose from, and while there’s a ticket fee, all of the activities are included in that! Keep an eye on their Facebook for promo codes, we got one for 20% tickets!

Picha Farms

Picha Farms has my favorite photo spots by far! They have quite a few set ups with backdrops to get great photos. Biggest difference here is that they are more of a pumpkin patch versus farm feel. It’s basically a big field with the pumpkins laid out all over the place and activities are located here too. Free entry, and the rides/activities vary from $1-3. This is a great place to visit, especially for younger kids. 

My favorite part about Picha Farms is that we got to bring Muffin along since they are dog friendly!

Picha Farms has food trucks and tents set up, so you can grab lunch! Coffee, popcorn, caramel apples, hot dogs, and more! You can also grab corn stalks, pumpkins, and squash from the produce stand. They’ve got a cow train Aurora enjoyed, a hayride, a corn maze (across the street), and port-o-potties (yuck). You cant beat Free!

Spooner Farms

It was the most beautiful sunny day when we visited Spooner Farms. They have got the most gorgeous view of Mount Rainier! I was surprised how busy it was on a Friday morning. You’ll need cash since the activities you pay separate for. Not to worry though, if you forget like I did, they have two ATMs on site!

The pumpkins are laid out by the hundreds just waiting to be picked up. There are these huge hay bales all over the field that they have dressed up as spiders.

They have got lots of activities for the kids.

Our first stop was the race track. It was $3 for Aurora to do ten laps. I couldn’t believe how fast she zoomed past the other kids! After that we went next door to Pumpkin Pete’s playground. This area is reserved for kids ten and under and is $3 for unlimited play. They’ve got a rope maze, sand, things to climb on, play houses, and it is a really cute set up.

The pumpkin sling shot was something we hadn’t seen before. It was $1 to shoot two mini pumpkins. The first time we aimed so hard we fell straight on our butts in the dirt and didn’t even see where the daggum Pumpkin landed. 

They do have a corn maze but honestly, they aren’t my favorite, so we skipped it. The set up was super cute with a Jungle theme though.

Spooner Farms has a really cute set up for photos, a pumpkin barn! Although I love the front, I actually thought the side made a better photo.

Spooner Farms had the biggest selection of pumpkins, gourds, and squashes by far. They had tons of shapes and sizes to choose from and were very reasonably priced.

If you want to grab a bite, this is the best place. They have a great variety of food tents set up featuring local restaurants as well as fair type foods.

Spooner Farms also has a huge gift shop featuring jams, kitchen items, candy, fudge, soda, popcorn, and a ton of gift items.

The gift shop also had local wines and festive holiday items.

We snagged a caramel apple and some chocolate covered fruit, both were delicious!

Maris Farms

Maris Farms is the biggest farm we have visited, by a lot. Entry is a bit pricey but you get a lot of bang for your buck. This is one of those places that you make it an all day trip. Maris Farms is dog friendly, though I didn’t find out until we got there.

They have the pumpkins laid in rows in a HUGE field, its at least an acre if not more. 

They have a hay ride that will take you around the field of pumpkins and give you a brief history of the farm. This is included in your entry fee.

If you pick out a pumpkin to take home, then you’ll need to give it a bath at the pumpkin washing station! If you grab more than one then they have wheelbarrows for you to use. 

Now here’s something we hadn’t seen at any other pumpkin patch, Pig Racing! I believe they only have them on the weekends but when you walk past the sign it will tell you when the next race is. 

You can also see the race pigs in the barn throughout the day as well as turkeys and chickens. 

Speaking of races, Maris Farms also has a duck race! This takes place in the fishing hole, where kids can fish for trout.

Catch and Release fishing is included in your entry fee!

Maris Farms has the classics like pedal carts, basketball, the jump pillow, tether ball, and tug of war. There is also a giant slide made into the hill. All of these are included in your entry fee, as well as the corn maze, which I decided not to do.

Auroras favorite activity was the swing style zip line.

My favorite activity was the apple blaster! This was a lot more fun than the traditional corn cannon most places have. You get one apple per person included with your entry fee and you can buy more if you want. 

They have all these targets for you to try and hit. It was really funny to just see all of the apples exploding from the cannons. Aurora hit the van! Another out of the ordinary experience is the Monster Truck. They have a Monster Truck you can ride around in for an additional cost.

There is a really big kids play area on the other side of the fishing. Slides, climbing structures, bouncy house, etc. This is included in your entry fee.

Maris Farms has a pretty big selection of food items. They have at least five different small buildings with things like burgers, pizza, corn, and popcorn, etc. 

Maris Farms has a small gift shop with some jarred and canned items, mostly Halloween goodies, and some tee shirts.

Stocker Farms

Stocker Farms is a huge farm located up in Snohomish (North of Seattle). It’s beautiful and there is a lot to do, this one is a great option if you’ve been to the closer local ones. There are actually six big farms to choose from in Snohomish.

With the entry fee, all of the activities are included. Of course we had to visit the jump pillow first, that is Aurora’s favorite. We visited on a Sunday and it was pretty crowded, there were lines for almost all of the activities.

Stocker Farms has tons of kids activities. Rubber duck racing, a play area, cow train, tire climb, slides, swings and more. They also had a really cool hay bale pulley.

Maris Farms also has a hay ride.

This one takes you around the Christmas tree farm and stops so the driver can shoot some pumpkins out of a cannon.

The hay ride drops you off at the sunflower fields. Literally acres and acres of sunflowers, all different types. You can pick them for $1-3 per stem. There is also a wine garden located here!

These sunflowers were huge, at least ten feet tall in some rows.

Of course they have a corn maze, pumpkin patch, and apple cannons. 

This pumpkin barn makes really cute photos! We saw quite a few families having professional photography done. Stocker Farms has a good selection of food options as well.
