Kenilworth castle has a romantic history of the love between Queen Elizabeth I and Robert Dudley. The scandal of his wife dying mysteriously…and the choice Queen Elizabeth I made never to marry. While the castle itself is only ruins, there are exhibits in the gate house and the stables to learn about the history. Kenilworth Castle is owned by English heritage. If you live in the UK, I highly suggest getting a membership. If you are just visiting the UK, English Heritage offers an Overseas Visitor Pass. A Membership will save you lots of money in the long run. If you are not interested in a membership, prices range from 9-16 pounds for entry. You can save 10% by booking your ticket online ahead of time. If you are visiting with kids, the family ticket option is always cheaper than purchasing each individual a ticket.

Your entry into the castle includes an audio guide. These guides are a tad different than other castles as they require you to tap the very front on each black square on the info boards (as seen above).

They often have entertainment and re-enactments, check the info board upon arrival. They also have guided tours through the castle grounds.

The cafe has a nice selection of food at reasonable prices. There is a microwave inside in case you decided to bring your own lunch or picnic.

In the same building as the cafe is an exhibit. This is about who lived and visited the castle during it’s glory days.
