Multnomah Falls Trail
Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in Oregon, plummeting over 620 feet. For that reason, it is a very popular stop along the Columbia River Gorge It is one of my favorites and I definitely recommend making a stop. Here is what you need to know before you go and what to expect.
Multnomah Falls
2.6 Miles, Out & Back
Moderate
Dog Friendly
This waterfall is the most popular of the hikes along the Columbia River Gorge, so expect it to be a bit crowded. Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in Oregon, plummeting 620 feet. There are different viewpoints for the falls with varying trail lengths. This trail is great for smaller kids and is wheelchair accessible to the main viewpoint by the visitor’s center. If you plan to visit during high season (May 26 -September 4) then you will need a $2 entry permit.
Book your entry permit HERE.
View this trail on All Trails HERE.
View more info on the US Forest Service’s website HERE.
There is a Visitor’s Center, Gift shop, and Restaurant located inside the old lodge.
You can also find a Coffee shop, ice cream store, and nice restrooms here.
This is the view from the main area, and there is a wheelchair accessible path. There are further viewpoints that require an unpaved trail and that is not very wheelchair friendly. he main viewpoint was personally my favorite, so I don’t see the need to go further. We did walk up to the middle viewpoint and stand on the bridge you see in this photo.
If you hike up to the middle viewpoint, plan on getting wet. The massive spray coming off the falls does drift over the bridge. The look back over the gorge is amazing as well.
There are lots more waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge area, check out my other blog post below:
