Going Inside London’s Famous Tower Bridge

Often mistaken for the London Bridge, Tower Bridge is the iconic towered bridge you see featured in the London skyline most often. You can actually go inside the bridge and walk through it, plus, it is dog friendly! Read here for what to expect when you visit and more info about the bridge.

Going inside of Tower Bridge was a really fun experience. Not only do you get some incredible views of the Thames River but you will get to learn the history of the bridge and the feats it was to build it. We spent about 2.5 hours here inside and walking around outside taking photos. Tickets can be reserved ahead of time online. I highly suggest doing it so you do not have to wait in line at the entrance to purchase tickets. Dog tickets are FREE.

Once inside the Tower prepare for lots of stairs. They did have elevators in some places but most of the way includes stairs. During your walk you will come across exhibits with info about the bridge.

Once at the top you will get some gorgeous views of the Thames River. They have a glass floor installed so you can also get a view from above (if you are brave enough).

We personally did not get to witness the bridge opening, but you can look up the schedule online HERE.

If you visit with kids, make sure to grab a cat tour book. The book has spots for stamps and there are stations throughout the tower for them to stamp inside their books.

Once exiting the main part of the bridge, you will follow the blue line to the Engine Rooms. Before you head there, I advise snapping a photo in the middle by the elevators. It makes a great family photo spot!

Seeing the engine rooms and how the bridge use to run on coal was really interesting. After the Engine Rooms will exit through the gift shop.

Upon exiting I recommend walking to the right of the bridge and finding a narrow staircase down to the waters edge. There is a beach there at low tide that offers a people-free photo. of the bridge.
