Hiking: Washington & Oregon,  National Parks & Monuments

Coldwater Lake Trail

Coldwater Lake is one of my favorite lakes to explore in Washington. It is so pretty it looks like a postcard. Our last trip to Mount St. Helens we decided to do the trail around the lake and hang out in the water for a bit. Here is some info on the trail and other things about visiting the area.

Coldwater Lake Trail
8.8 Miles, Moderate
Dog friendly
America the Beautiful Pass Required
Coldwater Lake Trail is an 8.8 mile trail rated as moderate. We actually did not do the whole trail. We mainly wanted to play in the water so we only walked about a mile of the trail around the lake. We went in July and it was absolutely gorgeous and lined with wildflowers. Dogs are able to use the trail. An America the Beautiful pass is required since it is a National Park. This pass is FREE for military. For info on the pass, click HERE.

The trail is pretty dusty so be prepared to get dirty. The dirt tends to kick up on you from the person in front of you.

As I mentioned we only hiked about a mile of the trail. Our main goal was to swim in this gorgeous lake!

This area has picnic tables, a boat launch, restrooms, and a board walk that is just a short walk to the water.
