Buying a Custom House Portrait
I love collecting custom artwork and after buying our first home, a custom art piece of it was top of my list! This is a great and thoughtful gift for anyone, or even an anniversary. I actually purchased two portraits on Etsy and I’m going to tell you my favorite and show you the differences between them.

This is the photo of our house that I sent to both artists. First thing to know, there are a TON of different listings for custom house portraits on Etsy. You could easily scroll through the hundreds of choices but I’ve broken them down for you.
This is the first kind of artwork you can purchase. Unfortunately it doesn’t say in most of the listing titles that it is actually digital. It reads the same title as the rest “custom house portrait”. Here is how to tell the difference between a digital portrait and a hand crafted one: price.
Pretty much all of the listing $50 or under are digital portraits. The really cheap listings ($30 or less) are just a digital copy sent to your email. The ones around $50 are digitally made then hand embellished and mailed to you. These still look really cool, it’s just not the style I wanted. Shop digital custom house portraits above, click the photo to view and shop.
Here is the second one I got which is pricey, but so worth it! This is a hand drawn portrait of our house, size 16 x 20. I got it framed in Hobby Lobby’s custom framing center. It is absolutely gorgeous and you can really see the details. It is incredible. I have linked the exact Etsy shop I used below. Zara is located in Illinois and has two different sizes available of the custom house portrait as well as a gift card for one (great gift idea!)
Zara also does other kinds of artwork! Check out her full Etsy shop HERE.
