Beacon Rock Trail
Beacon Rock Trail had been on my list for a long time and I finally got the chance to do it. It has stunning views of the Columbia River Gorge. I definitely recommend going on a clear day to take in the breathtaking views on this dog friendly, short but steep hike.
Beacon Rock Trail
1.5 Miles, Out & Back
Dog Friendly
Discover Pass Required
This trail is short but make no mistake, it is not easy. The elevation gain is 574 feet and it can be intense. There are restrooms and picnic tables at the trailhead. The parking lot is a moderate size, but definitely expect it to be crowded on a pretty summer day. A Discover Pass is required and is $10/day or $30 for a year. The Discover Pass will get you access to all Washington State Parks.

Beacon Rock is actually an old volcano, so you are essentially hiking inside a volcano core.
This hike offers absolutely beautiful views of the Columbia River Gorge, one of my top three favorite areas in Washington State.
Speaking of the difficulty, this is the trail going up to the top.
The view at the top is pretty but I actually enjoyed the views on the way up even more. There are some rocks where you could sit and have a picnic as well.
While you are in the area I highly recommend checking out one of the Oregon Waterfalls on the other side of the Gorge:
