A Day in Ohrid, North Macedonia
While visiting Tirana, Albania we took a day trip to Ohrid, North Macedonia. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is full of history, charm, and the most amazing views. Here is what to see and do doing your visit to Ohrid!

Go As Local: Private Day Tour of Ohrid from Tirana
We based ourselves in Tirana, Albania during our trip to the Balkans and booked all of our day tours through Go As Local. All of our guides were fabulous and we had a great time on each tour we did. They picked us up directly from our hotel and we traveled in a small group with stops along the way. Our guides were knowledgable with history and answered our questions! I highly recommend Go As Local and they have many different tours throughout the Balkan countries to choose from.

Upon arriving into Ohrid we walked through the historic theater, and up the hill into the iconic white and black trim houses. The views of the lake start getting more visible as you go up.
Samuel’s Fortress
This is by far the best view in Ohrid, of both the city and the lake. Admission into the fortress is included with your tour!
St. Peter’s Church
This absolutely stunning church is set upon a hill top overlooking Ohrid Lake. It was a truly gorgeous spring day when we visited.
After visiting the church we walked into town by the lakeside. They offer boat tours on the lake here.
We grabbed lunch at Noa Lounge & Bar. It is right on the lake and has an amazing view. I had the brie and it was delicious! My entire meal and drink was under $10 USD.
Before leaving we headed through the newer part of town where the bazaar is. There are plenty of souvenir shops and ice cream places to grab a snack on your way out.
St. Naum Monastery
On the way back to Tirana our last stop was to St. Naum Monastery. Admission is included in your tour. This beautiful monastery is located on the lake and is home to a large group of peacocks.
